Description Electrician Apprentice Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt Position Type: Full-Time, Operations Reports to: Plant Foreman Position Summary We are seeking a motivated Electrician Apprentice to provide entry-level electrical services across our various industrial uranium mining and processing operations. This position provides hands-on training and structured development under the supervision of licensed Journeyperson Electricians. The Apprentice Electrician will assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems supporting plant operations, wellfields, motor control centers (MCCs), pump stations, and facility infrastructure. This role offers valuable experience in industrial electrical systems, automation, and mining operations within a highly regulated and safety-focused environment. Key Responsibilities Assist licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial electrical systems Support troubleshooting of motors, control panels, MCCs, switchgear, and pump systems Assist with installation and termination of low voltage and high voltage wiring Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment (including multimeters and ohmmeters) Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams under supervision Assist with installation of conduit systems including RMC and PVC-coated RMC Support preventive maintenance activities on: electric motors, switchgear and control panels, variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), lighting systems in plant and wellfield areas Help maintain proper grounding of tools and electrical systems Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and arc flash safety requirements Maintain organized work areas and assist with site clean-up Accurately document completed tasks as directed Perform other duties as assigned Working Conditions Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, direct sunlight, and variable weather conditions Industrial noise levels requiring hearing protection Rotating mechanical equipment, energized electrical systems Dust, drilling fluids, process chemicals, and industrial cleaning agents/chemicals Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) and uranium-bearing solutions in controlled environments Remote wellfield locations requiring travel on unpaved roads and uneven terrain Physical Demands Standing and walking for extended periods Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing ladders or stairways for extended periods Working at heights from ladders, platforms, or elevated structures Accessing confined spaces such as MCC rooms, control panels, and equipment enclosures Lifting and carrying materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently (heavier items with assistance) Pulling cable and assisting with conduit installation Repetitive use of hands for fine motor tasks such as wiring terminations and instrumentation connections Working in energized environments requiring high levels of situational awareness Ability to distinguish wire colors accurately Visual acuity to read meters, schematics, and instrumentation displays Ability to wear required PPE, including arc flash and respiratory for extended durations Candidates must be able to successfully complete: pre-employment physical examination (if applicable), respirator medical clearance (if required) Requirements Qualifications Current and valid TDLR Apprentice Electrician License Basic understanding of electrical systems Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing devices Foundational knowledge of NEC standards and construction/industrial safety practices Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Ability to read and write in English Valid driver’s license
