QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Journeyman Electrician (Red Seal) with Commercial experience
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Clear communications in English – both written and oral.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Ambitious learner who wants to progress in their career for building systems.
  • Experience working with low voltage.
  • Experience with HVAC, building automation systems and VFD’s an asset
  • Experience with programming languages or IT infrastructure an asset.
  • Experience in PLC an asset.
  • Well-versed in Honeywell Webs devices and Niagara N4 software an asset.
  • Familiarity with industry protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks an asset.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Building Automation System Technician (BAS Technician) an asset.
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics
  • Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work
  • Commercial / Construction installations experience

Responsibilities
  • Installs, wiring, BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of installations.
  • Repairs and maintains low voltage systems.
  • Assist in delivering BAS solutions to our customer base within the Construction/Operation Department.
  • Assist with site commissioning, point to point verifications, troubleshooting and startup of a variety of Building Automation Systems.
  • Appropriately handles and is familiar with all testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.
  • Perform tasks with minimum supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth GDI Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Understand fundamentals of how HVAC systems operate on commercial buildings.
  • Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.
