    In this role, you’ll be working across a wide variety of challenging and rewarding projects. From installing and maintaining motors, transformers, substations, and control equipment up to 12,000 volts, to diagnosing and repairing faults, you’ll be at the heart of keeping critical infrastructure running. You’ll also have the opportunity to take the lead on-site, guiding crews, ensuring smooth delivery, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Performs work of a skilled variety demanding a high degree of manual and technical competency.
  • Locates and determines electrical malfunctions using test equipment
  • Repairs malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning and repairing motors
  • Tests electrical equipment, such as, motors, heaters, and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions
  • Installs fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment
  • Inspects circuits for specified shielding and grounding
  • Knowledge of security and fire alarm systems
  • Performs other duties as may be required
  • Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems and equipment, both high and low voltage (i.e., wall electrical outlets, traffic signal systems, air distribution systems, pumps, transformers, motors, streetlights, and appliances)
  • Maintains and repairs equipment used in 24-hour operations
  • Installs and maintains motors of several hundred horsepower, coils, transformers, and control equipment of up to 12,000 volts
  • Installs and maintains water pump and booster stations consisting of various horsepower, from functional to several hundred horsepower
  • Installs and maintains transformers, substations, and related control equipment (motors, generators, pumps)
  • Draws circuits on a one-line diagram for controls
  • Designs functional electric circuitry for electrical systems#
  • Operates earth moving equipment, aerial equipment, and pneumatic equipment in the installation and repair of electrical equipment
  • Acts as a “standby” electrician for responding to emergency calls after normal working hours
