Description Controlled Combustion is the leading heating contractor in NYC. We serve a variety of industries, including luxury apartments, hospitals, universities, and more. With over 150 employees, our team is as diverse as the services we offer. We’re looking for a hands on Electrical Foreman / Project Manager to oversee the electrical scope for boiler rooms, burner upgrades, controls, and capital improvement projects across NYC. Please note that this is a field first, in person role. Most time will be spent on active job sites across the five boroughs with regular visits to our Bronx headquarters. Hybrid/remote is not available for this position. Responsibilities Lead day to day field operations for the electrical scope: plan work, set goals, assign tasks, and supervise crews and subcontractors. Interpret plans/specs; perform layout for feeders, panels, EMT/RMC, junction boxes, equipment terminations, and control wiring. Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of motors, starters, VFDs, PLC adjacent control wiring, sensors, and BMS interfaces in boiler/mechanical rooms. Coordinate closely with plumbers, HVAC techs, burner/controls technicians, and site supers to sequence work in occupied buildings. Develop short interval schedules; attend project meetings; run daily huddles and toolbox talks. Order, stage, and track materials, tools, and rental equipment; manage vendors for on time deliveries. Maintain documentation: daily reports, as builts, redlines, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout packages. Enforce safety policies (OSHA, NYC DOB, site specific rules); conduct jobsite inspections and corrective actions. Coordinate inspections and utility cutovers; interface with AHJs (DOB/Con Edison) as needed. Drive quality control: pre functional checks, point to point testing, start up/commissioning support, and punch list closure. Schedule Full time, Monday–Friday. Day shift; occasional evenings/weekends for cutovers or emergencies. Overtime as needed based on project timelines. Requirements Qualifications / Skills Strong planning, organization, and crew leadership; capable of running multiple jobs at once. Expert knowledge of the NEC and working familiarity with the NYC Electrical Code for commercial/multifamily work. Ability to read/markup electrical drawings and risers; produce simple sketches and take offs. Proficient with 120/208V and 277/480V three phase power distribution, motor controls, and low voltage control circuits. Experience with VFDs, starters, interlocks, safeties, and integration with burner/boiler control systems and BMS. Strong communication and documentation; comfortable with MS Office (Outlook/Excel/Word) and mobile project apps. Proactive, detail oriented problem solver who thrives in fast paced, occupied environments. Certifications & Licensure OSHA 30 (required) and NYC Site Safety Training (SST) (preferred). Valid NYS Driver License (required). Minimum Education & Work Experience High school diploma or equivalent (required); completion of an electrical apprenticeship or trade school (preferred). 7+ years in the electrical trade with 2+ years leading crews as a foreman or assistant PM. Experience in heating, oil & gas, boilers/burners, HVAC/mechanical rooms, or construction in NYC is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
