Description
Electrician – Gyratory Crusher Job Purpose To perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of all electrical and control systems associated with primary gyratory crushers, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. The role supports equipment uptime through proper care of motors, power systems, control panels, sensors, and automated crusher control technologies. Key Responsibilities Electrical System Maintenance Conduct preventative maintenance to keep electrical connections dry and corrosion‑free, preventing phase loss, shorts, and unexpected motor trips. Maintain clean, sealed electrical cabinets to avoid dust and moisture entering relays and contacts. Apply dielectric grease on breaker lugs and relay wire entries to reduce moisture ingress and prevent terminal seizing. Inspect starters, overloads, and soft‑start circuits to ensure connections are tight and phases are not touching, preventing motor single‑phasing. Controls, Automation & Crusher Monitoring Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot OEM electrical/automation systems such as: Metso Mainshaft Positioning System automated setting and adjustment controls, which adapt crusher settings to feed conditions. TIMS (Tank Instrumentation Monitoring System) for real‑time lubrication and system monitoring. Digital/IoT-enabled TSUV crusher monitoring systems, supporting smart productivity optimization. Interpret data from intelligent gyratory crusher sensors and predictive maintenance systems to identify electrical faults in advance. Fault Finding & Electrical Repairs Diagnose faults such as phase imbalance, motor overload trips, relay failures, cabinet contamination, voltage fluctuations, and sensor faults. Repair and maintain crusher drive motors, soft starters, circuit breakers, cable systems, and all auxiliary electrical equipment. Support safe troubleshooting during shutdowns and under‑load start-up systems where applicable (e.g., torque-limiter controlled drives). Safety & Compliance Follow strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) and de‑energizing procedures, including checking residual energy before using compressed air for panel cleaning. Ensure all electrical work adheres to site standards and OEM safety protocols. Maintain accurate service logs, electrical inspection checklists, and incident reports. Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Strong working knowledge of: Three‑phase industrial power systems, crusher motors, and soft starts. Automation platforms including Mainshaft Positioning System, sensor networks and enabled diagnostics. Electrical panels, relay logic, instrumentation wiring, and fault-finding. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PLC‑related documentation. Operational Competencies Skilled at diagnosing electrical issues under production pressure. Capable of analyzing real‑time crusher system data to support predictive maintenance approaches. Competent in commissioning, shutdown electrical preparation, and system restorations. Qualifications & Experience Trade-tested Electrician (Red Seal or equivalent). 3–5 years experience in mining or heavy industrial electrical maintenance. Experience working with primary gyratory crushers and their associated control and monitoring systems. Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in high-dust, high‑temperature mining environments. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, planned shutdowns, and callouts. Fit to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Responsibilities
The Electrician is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of all electrical and control systems associated with primary gyratory crushers to ensure safe and efficient plant operation. This includes maintaining motors, power systems, control panels, and automated crusher control technologies to support equipment uptime.
