Ore at Carrapateena is collected from underground mine areas and processed through conventional crushing, grinding and flotation methods. Located 472 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations, within the Copper South Australia province. The mine is located on the traditional land of the Kokatha people. Carrapateena produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade. Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta) Roster: 8/6 FIFO from Adelaide.- Day/Night rotational roster About the Role Carrapateena currently have a vacancy for a qualified Electrician to work at our Carrapateena operations performing planned, unplanned and or breakdown maintenance activities within our highly skilled underground maintenance team for future positions within our operation as they arise. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor - Underground Fixed Plant in this role you will: Perform planned electrical maintenance on electrical components and instrumentation associated with fixed plant equipment – conveyors, chutes, crusher, pump stations, ventilation fans, Respond to breakdowns and have sound technical knowledge to troubleshoot Perform HV/LV supply and reticulation system maintenance Perform HV/LV motor maintenance Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day Provide technical expertise within the team to facilitate planned, unplanned and or breakdown maintenance and preventative shut down maintenance Develop close working relationships with operations personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and remedied promptly Provide continual feedback to the maintenance supervisor on job/task progress Actively contribute to the safety culture by following safe work procedures, working to the BHP set of values: Do what is right, seek better ways and make a difference Contribute to and positively influence an engaged diverse workforce and team culture About You Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way Hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30820) Ability to obtain South Australian A class Electrical works license Hold a certificate of Certificate IV in Electrical - Instrumentation (UEE40420) or Certificate IV in Instrumentation and Control (UEE42220). Experience working in operational underground mining environment is highly sought after/advantageous Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels and functions Previous experience working within an operational maintenance environment Experience working in operational underground mining environment is highly sought after/advantageous Experience with SAP desirable Manual Drivers licence essential High risk license essential Working at Heights and Confined Space competencies desirable Basic PLC (Allen Bradley) knowledge.
