Description:
Mansteel Rebar Ltd. is a leading fabricator, installer and distributor of concrete reinforcing steel and related products in Richmond Hill, Ontario. We are currently seeking an Electrician to join the Maintenance team in our Richmond Hill location for our Evening Shift.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Installation: Industrial electricians are responsible for installing new electrical systems, components, and equipment in industrial facilities. This may include wiring, conduits, switches, and control panels.
- Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. This includes inspecting, cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose electrical issues and malfunctions in industrial machinery and equipment. Analyze electrical diagrams and schematics to locate and repair problems. Also work with PLCs.
- Repairs: Perform repairs on faulty electrical components or systems, such as replacing damaged wiring, fuses, circuit breakers, or defective components.
- Upgrades and Modifications: Update and upgrade existing electrical systems to meet changing needs or improve efficiency. This may involve rewiring or replacing outdated components.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work is in compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards. Industrial electricians play a crucial role in maintaining a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues.
- Testing and Calibration: Test and calibrate electrical systems and equipment to verify proper functionality and accuracy. This may involve using specialized testing equipment and tools.
- Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Understand and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to plan and execute electrical installations and repairs accurately.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance and engineering professionals to address electrical issues, coordinate maintenance activities, and optimize the operation of industrial equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all electrical work, including repairs, maintenance, and installations. Documentation is essential for tracking the history of equipment and compliance with regulations.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages or equipment failures, to restore electrical systems to working order promptly.
- Training and Mentoring: Some experienced industrial electricians may be responsible for training and mentoring apprentices or junior electricians.
- Staying Informed: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and changes in electrical codes and regulations. Attend relevant training and professional development programs.
Hiring Requirements:
- 2 + years experience in a similar role.
- Licenses 442A (Industrial Electrician) or 309A (Electrician – construction and maintenance) would be an asset.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. (electrical Functions)
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and/or service.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Prior diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
- Basic computer skills is an asset.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- A motivated team player with a “can-do” attitude that is able to troubleshoot, focus and organize work area.
- Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.
- Quick learner with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
