Caterpillar is seeking an Electrician Operator in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical systems and automated equipment within a fast-paced industrial environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in electrical systems, and preventative maintenance, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and safety compliance. This position plays a critical role in supporting production efficiency, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational excellence. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to deliver reliable and efficient plant operations and complete and or supervise electrical projects and installations. What you can look forward to in this role: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and fixtures in a manufacturing or industrial environment Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues related to PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, lights, fire systems and automated systems. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical and automated production equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to support repairs and installations Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects focused on efficiency and reliability Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards and policies “LOTO and Arc Flash procedures” Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to minimize downtime and improve operational performance Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation for all electrical work performed Assist in equipment startups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities Identify root causes of electrical failures and implement corrective actions This is a unique role that will require work hours that vary from a typical schedule. There will be times when the successful candidate will be required to support activities and installations during weekends, holidays, and plant shutdowns. A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in: Electrician Services: Knowledge of electrical power, lighting and control systems; ability to plan and perform electrical work for buildings, infrastructures, and equipment. Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation. Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Top Candidates for this position may also have: Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology or related field or equivalent experience. Experience working in heavy manufacturing, equipment production, or industrial operations Experience with robotics, automation systems, or advanced manufacturing technologies Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Experience supporting continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) Ability to support shift work, overtime, or on-call schedules as needed Ability to install conduit within NEC code. Summary Pay Range: $72,360.00 - $108,540.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
