Oxfordshire County Council’s Facilities Management Team have a great opportunity for someone to start, or build on, their career within Facilities Maintenance.
We are recruiting a permanent Electrician to work alongside our engineers within the Hard FM team, across the county portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Relevant qualifications in City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations, NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Syatems and Equipment, City & Guilds 5357 or EAL equivalent, 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 - City & Guilds 2382-22 level 3 Award.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a facilities management or local government setting.
  • Skills: Strong technical skills in building fabric maintenance and repair, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in health and safety, such as IOSH or NEBOSH, PAT are desirable.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Electrician will be a key member of the Oxfordshire County Council’s Hard FM team, responsible for maintaining and improving the electrical infostructure of OCC’s buildings and facilities. This role involves performing a variety of tasks to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and aesthetic quality of the council’s properties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine inspections and carry out maintenance and repair work on electrical installations. Routine inspections will include activities such as Legionella hot and cold water checks, Pat testing, Emergency light testing, EICR testing etc Note: list of activities not exhaustive.
  • Refurbishment Projects: Participate in refurbishment projects, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations, and that risk assessments are conducted and documented.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the Hard FM team, including Gas engineers, Fabric technicians, Plumbers, and HVAC technicians, to coordinate maintenance activities and projects.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including materials used and time spent on tasks using a CAFM based APP.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency maintenance requests and perform necessary repairs to ensure the safety and functionality of OCC properties. This include carrying out duties out of hours as part of the “On call engineering rota”.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets OCC standards and specifications.
