We’re hiring a Journeyperson Electrician at Fort Hills! If you take pride in safely maintaining a wide variety of Electrical equipment to ensure optimum reliability, we want to hear from you!

Key Accountabilities:

  • Install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide spectrum of plant electrical equipment and machinery in high- and low-voltage applications
  • Maintain, test and ensure the functionality of electrical equipment protection systems, safety systems, emergency shutdown (ESD) equipment, and backup systems
  • Strong VFD and Relay troubleshooting skills
  • Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems
  • Participate in failure analysis discussions
  • Plan jobs, which includes material assessment and selection
  • Develop and execute switching procedures
  • Assist other maintenance and production technicians to ensure equipment and plant reliability
  • Maintain equipment histories as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of electrical maintenance experience in a large industrial facility
  • High voltage experience maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting and switching high voltage systems (equipment up to 15KV)
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrical Technician Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Electrical Technician Certificate
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Passion regarding safety, with proven safe work practices and knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
  • Strong administrative skills, with computer knowledge in SAP and Microsoft Office suite

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on /7 days off rotation, 12 hour shifts
  • This position is safety sensitive
