Description
ELECTRICIAN POSITION PURPOSE Performs repair and maintenance of all type of gas operated kitchen appliances and refrigeration equipment including electrical or electronic units and its related plumbing accessories. Maintain all the equipment to the optimum operating conditions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under the direction of the Assistant Engineering Manager or Engineering Manager/Assistant Engineer and DOE performs the following: Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, follow diagrams and blue prints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and floorings. Measures, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit. Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together and apply tapes or terminal caps. Connect power cables to equipment such as electric range or motor and install grounding leads. Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components. Test for voltage and currents in aid of troubleshooting process. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation or replacement. To inspect, clean, maintain and repair all electrical switch gear and distribution networks and systems. To help plan new or modified installations to maximize utilization of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. To maintain and repair all electrical appliances. To replace electrical light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and accessories in all areas of the hotel including landscaping according to schedule or if required. To inspect, clean, maintain and repair all electrical lighting fixtures, floodlighting, neon signs and emergency lighting installations To perform planned preventive maintenance on all machinery and equipment, electrical switch gears and panel boards. To maintain emergency power supply and interruptible power supply systems. To service electrical motors and controls. To take appropriate action when discrepancies and/or abnormalities are observed and to inform team leader or supervisor. Respond to and interact in courteous, professional and rapid manner in order to resolve all guest and staff difficulties. Perform other related task, as required by immediate superior. SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. Assist other departmental craft workers as required. Perform all duties required as Fire Alarm Response Team. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment such pumps, motor, blower/fans including electrical and plumbing system. Must have the ability to troubleshoot mechanical, operational problems and work independently. Must have the ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic and plumbing diagrams. Must have the ability to add and subtract three digit numbers. Ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including, but, not limited to dollars, cents, feet, inches, cups, pounds and ounces. Must have the ability to lead and maintain excellent relations with staff. Must have the ability to maintain staff and confidentiality at all times. Must have functional ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to converse calmly with irate guests, co-workers, and superiors in sometimes intense emotional situations. Must have the ability to focus and maintain attention to performance of tasks despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions. Must have the ability to memorize, recollect and quickly retrieve dates, names times and other data. Must have the ability to work and complete assignments on time despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions. Must have the ability to participate in all departmental and hotel wide meetings. Must have the ability to sit, walk, stand, lift, reach, pull, push, and grasp. Must actively support TQM process. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education Min. High School Diploma and or trade graduates. Experience Must have minimum of five (5) years hand-on experience in repair and maintenance of kitchen appliances and refrigeration equipment including electrical or electronic accessories, painting of metal structure, and plumbing. Licenses or Certificates Certificate in Master Electrician, preferred Hours of Work Require to work both days and evening shifts, both weekends and weekdays.
