Description

Hypermotive are a well-respected and dynamic engineering and manufacturing business. Hypermotive specialise in the design and tier 1 manufacture of high and low voltage power distribution systems and wiring harnesses for sectors including automotive, motorsport, commercial vehicle, rail, marine and aerospace. You will work on highly varied projects across different sectors. Your input will directly contribute not only to the successful delivery of projects but also support the success and growth of the business.
As a key part of the Hypermotive Manufacturing team, you will contribute to the following activities:
· Build of complex high and low voltage electromechanical assemblies for prototypes and series production products to deliver to internal and external customers.
· Installation of electrical and mechanical components such as contactors, relays, PCBAs, LV and HV wiring harnesses, fasteners, seals etc…
· Work from basic drawings and instructions where some level of process development and hand modification may be required.
· Support the Manufacturing Engineering Manager in the development of manufacturing processes that are suitable for production – to include:
o Process development.
o Tool and jig specification/selection.
o Implementation of in-process and end of line tests.
o Preparation of production documentation including work instructions.
o Establishing production cycle times.
· Carry out process reviews and develop process improvements under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
· Production build and test of complex electromechanical assemblies following documented processes and controls to support delivery to our production customers.
· Complete and maintain build records and production documents.
· Occasional manufacture of basic LV and HV wiring harnesses.
· Occasional provision of off-site support to customers.
· Help to minimise the impact of Hypermotive’s activities on the environment and to adhere all relevant legislation and duties of care regarding the environment
Min requirements:
· GCSE/BTEC Diploma or equivalent occupational experience.
· Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical or electromechanical assembly gained within an automotive, aerospace, marine or motorsport manufacturing environment.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

· A good understanding of best working practices in both production and prototype environments.
· Ability to build complex assemblies following assembly drawings and work instructions.
· A good understanding of manual assembly processes.
· A good understanding of manual manufacturing methods such as drilling, tapping, filing and the use of hand tools.
· An understanding of mechanical and electrical component drawings
· An appreciation of the importance of working to controlled processes with detailed build processes and record keeping within a production environment.
· The ability to work to Hypermotive and/or customers’ codes of practice
· Have a professional attitude and ability to talk with clients while working on customer sites
· The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

SKILLS PREFERRED:

· Experience of working in both prototype and production environments and an understanding of the different requirements would be an advantage.
· Engineering background is an advantage.
· The ability to manufacture basic wiring harnesses with suitable instruction and training.
· Experience of mechanical or electrical design tools is welcomed
· Experience of Process Engineering would be an advantage.
· Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft tools would be beneficial.
