Description

SMART GRID SOLUTIONS, ELECTRO-MECHANICAL ENGINEER

The Smart Grid Solutions team is looking for an experienced electro-mechanical engineer to help develop new technologies for the changing power grid. This team is responsible for the smart metering, EV charging equipment and power grid control systems applications. Numerous global challenges such as climate change, vehicle electrification and distributed renewable generation are putting immense pressure on existing power infrastructure. The Smart Grid Solutions team has been leading the development of technologies and solutions to help solve these problems.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic electro-mechanical engineer who can help develop new system level solutions for the energy market. This includes energy meters and power grid monitoring products. As a member of the applications team you will play a key role in developing and commercializing new technologies. You will be involved throughout the product development lifecycle from early R&D, proof-of-concept development, product definition, development and system testing.
As Analog Devices moves from being an IC provider to a complete solution provider we frequently require mechanical designs. This includes end-products which feature complex, custom plastics. Many of our IC products require demonstration platforms that mimic the end application with bespoke cases and mechanical assemblies. Finally, our product development often includes physics simulations which require accurate 3D models of the products.

Responsibilities include

  • Develop new technologies
  • Working with other mechanical engineers and contractors on complex 3D designs
  • Design of PCBs
  • Prototype and test new systems in the laboratory
  • Build demos systems to showcase new technologies to our customers
  • Work closely with other teams to create complete products including electronics engineers, IC designers and software engineers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electronic Engineering or Mechanical role
  • Circuit and PCB design experience
  • 3D design experience
  • Rapid prototyping and 3D printing experience
  • Technically savvy and showing an aptitude for new and innovative technologies
  • Good team player, who enjoys working in a highly dynamic team environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to visit customers and colleagues in the U.S. and Europe.

For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. As such, applicants for this position – except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) – may have to go through an export licensing review process.
