We are looking for 2 apprentices to join our Integrated Component and Solutions (ICS) team located at our Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ). We are engineers, materials scientists, and technicians. We are strategists, innovators, and problem solvers. We partner across Caterpillar to develop the technology that enables the success of our customers. COMPONENTS | We design and build the best performing, best value components and systems that form the backbone of our Aftermarket Solutions. SOLUTIONS | Beyond components …we provide trusted engineering, research, validation and manufacturing services to our internal clients and technology leadership for Caterpillar. We help our customers be more successful with our solutions than with any competitor. Apprentices joining this team will have the opportunity to collaborate with our technical experts worldwide, focused on the integration, development, application, and validation of electrical and electronic control systems for diesel engines, electric drivetrains, and construction machine products. Our apprentices will: Earn a competitive salary package, starting at c. £24,931 per year, Receive 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, Have access to a contributory share and pension scheme, flexible benefits, flexible working opportunities, family-friendly policies and up to 9% bonus. In collaboration with our partnered training provider, University of Nottingham, our 6-year degree apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities and gain a degree from a Russell Group University. Alongside on-the-job training supported by relatable mentors, apprentices will undertake off-the-job training, during their contracted working hours, to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to become effective engineers. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will lead to lifelong professional qualifications including: An Electro-Mechanical Engineer degree apprenticeship certificate, and A BEng (Hons) Electro-Mechanical Engineering. As part of this programme apprentices are required to attend university on a block release basis, therefore apprentices are required to travel and potentially stay over. This degree apprenticeship is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is working towards accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology. The Experience Apprentices will have the opportunity to work on projects to design and develop our new product systems under the guidance of our expert staff. This will compliment university studies and allow the apprentice to develop to become a qualified engineer and valued member of our team. Apprentices will gain exposure to: Embedded software design and development, Control system modelling and analysis, Electronic component selection and validation, System specifications, System level development and validation, Product health analysis and quality issue resolution. Entry Requirement GCSEs: Maths at Grade 5 and English Language at Grade 4 or above. A-Levels: BBB grades, to include Mathematics. Note : Relevant engineering BTEC qualification, preceding level apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable work experience in the occupational area also welcome. Unfortunately, the following A-Level’s will not be accepted: Citizenship Skills, General Studies and Critical Thinking. You can apply with predicted grades. If you’re successful at the interview stage, the job offer will be conditional on you achieving the required grades before September 2026. Recruitment Timeline Go Live: 1st December 2025 Closing Date: 18th January 2026 Interview/Assessment Centre Day (in-person): Between 30th March - 10th April 2026 University of Nottingham Apprenticeship Preview Date (by invitation): TBC- Approx. end of June 2026 Engagement Day (in-person): 2nd July 2026 (provisional) Employment Start Date: 7th September 2026 (provisional) The panel cannot make assumptions when shortlisting therefore please demonstrate your skills and experience on your application relevant to the criteria outlined. Recruitment Process Stage one – Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application; this must be done before the closing date of the role that you're applying for. Stage two – Assessment Centre: The half day assessment centre (i.e. interview) will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. Each will consist of a group exercise, an interview and a presentation. Details will vary depending on the career area/role you are applying for. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible. Stage three – Offer: After the assessment centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our chosen candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible. We hold an Engagement Day for all new apprentices to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the facility before your employment start date.
