We are seeking a skilled Electro-Optics Technician to join our dynamic team. If you’re excited about creating cutting-edge vision systems in dynamic settings, Graftek Imaging presents a unique and rewarding chance to grow your career.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be competent in basic optical and electronic theory.
  • Familiarity with optical metrology instruments, laser alignment systems, optical power meters, and machine vision lighting techniques.
  • Basic metrology instruments: calipers, micrometers, scales, dial indicators, etc.
  • Ability to clean and handle optics equipment, coated optics and components.
  • Experience in applying the inspection, assembly and alignment skills defined above in a product development environment.
  • Basic hand tools such as tap and drill sets, wrenches, spanner wrenches, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Basic power tools such as drill press, saws, hand drills, etc.
  • Basic math (addition/subtraction/division/multiplication/fractions/decimals/percentages), Units of Measure (English and Metric), and conversions between.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Use of analytical skills for identifying problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot at an intermediate level based on system level understanding.
  • Ability to independently work on multiple projects and products and train others.
  • Independent worker with focus on quality workmanship.
  • Organization and neatness of assigned assembly work area.
  • Proficient in standard computer operation within the Microsoft Windows and Office environment (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Associate degree or better in technology specialty such as electronics, optics, machine tools, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-5 years experience in optical inspection or assembly.
  • Basic understanding of CAD usage.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical strength to lift up to 50 lbs. without requiring assistance.
  • Proficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise optical and opto-mechanical assembly work.
  • Willingness to grow and take on new responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Work with engineers in the development of optical, electrical, and laser systems utilized in the machine vision industry.
  • Perform precision assembly of optical, opto-mechanical, and opto-electro-mechanical assemblies as required, while ensuring all assemblies are defect free and meet all required performance specifications.
  • Assist in researching, extracting, analyzing and compiling system documentation, data acquisition, and technical data.
  • Troubleshoot assemblies to assist in root cause analysis of any performance deficiency and support new product transition to manufacturing.
  • Setup, build and alignment of electro-optical, electro-mechanical, laser and optical components and subassemblies in lab environment.
  • Perform optical alignment, optimize and fix alignment of optics components.
  • Participate in project design reviews. Assists in preliminary engineering analysis, conceptual design and engineering calculations.
  • Support engineering in new product development, help transition to production.
  • Responsible for operating diagnostic equipment such as optical power meters, multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, scientific cameras etc.
  • May perform CAD assignments, revise prints and prepare sketches.
  • Account for components and materials provided for assembly jobs and keeping jobs organized.
  • Report quality issues when noticed to ensure product quality.
  • Account for tools and supplies provided for use at designated work center(s), reporting back to management any identified problems, missing or broken tools or shortage of supplies.
  • Maintain high level of cleanliness in work center and parts produced.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to coworkers as needed.
