We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.THE OPPORTUNITY: We are expanding our site and seeking a talented Electrochemical Scientist to join our Innovation team. This team is dedicated to early-stage research and projects in new product areas and sensor characterization, advancing sensor technology for diabetes care applications and beyond.Responsibilities: Lead development projects ranging from small to large volume manufacturing across laboratory and production environments.Conduct early-stage feasibility projects, testing hypotheses, exploring new ideas, and bringing concepts to life.Collaborate with internal colleagues and engage with external partners to share ideas and develop new analysis protocols.Support product research and development through scientific experimentation and prototype fabrication.Perform testing of products or materials, analyze results, and report findings.ABOUT YOU: The ideal candidate is proactive, takes initiative, and can manage multiple interrelated activities with varying priorities. You will lead projects in collaboration with team colleagues and the wider R&D community. Strong communication, analytical, and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You should be eager to expand your technical and scientific knowledge and take ownership of development trials from design through to execution, analysis, and evaluation of results.Requirements: Educational Background: Postgraduate education in electrochemistry.Technical Skills: Experience in electrochemical methods such as cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance, and their applications.Experience in electrode fabrication, including surface functionalization and characterization for biosensing applications, is an advantage.A passion for learning, problem-solving, and teamwork.Ability to analyze, interpret, and present experimental results.Experience in managing research projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.Interest in staying updated with the latest advancements in the field.WHAT WE OFFER: At Abbott, you will be part of a dynamic team that is making a real difference in diabetes care.
