Description JOB SUMMARY: Performs quality EEG monitoring to record impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain; has the ability to scan correlate and clip study information; facilitates all aspects of study completion and reporting; actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all; assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify the correct patient for the procedure, provide a brief history of the patient & update medication list Explain the testing procedures and properly prepare patient for their procedure Responsible for attaching 24 to 26 metal electrodes to the patients scalp in addition to monitoring of the patients heart rate by securing a two lead EKG to the patient. The patient will be monitored throughout the procedure which will include the use of video equipment to record patient data. Once testing is complete, the tech will transfer findings into USB that is given to ordering MD for interpretation. Technician must ensure the patient test is running properly, notate when the patients move during the procedure. Inform the supervisor and/or the physician of the changes in the patient’s condition or abnormalities on the recording. Maintain supplies and equipment for patient care and maintain and orderly and efficient system for storage and retrieval of patient information. Performs quality seizure monitoring studies and prints out events for the physician interpretation. Able to archive studies, copy to appropriate storage device and troubleshoot equipment issues. Performs other duties as assigned. May be exposed to hazardous drugs. Attends OSHA training upon initial employee orientation and annually completes an OSHA competency. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS: Direct relationship with patients/families, physicians and staff. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: Applicant must be certified as an EEG Technician with education received from an accredited institution. At least one (1) year experience in a health profession preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Classification of work level: Heavy. Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics. Requires manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computer, fax and telephone. Requires hearing and vision that is adequate to perform job duties.
