CRAWLEY – RELOCATION SUPPORT CAN BE PROVIDED

Thales Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) UK is a principal supplier of UAS, EW and Radar equipment to the UK armed forces, as well as an exporter of these capabilities worldwide.
We are seeking an Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) Project Design Authority with experience of working within the field of Electronic Warfare, or related fields such as RESM, CESM, ECM or similar. You will have prior knowledge of the key principles of the domain and can quickly grasp the science and technology that sits behind a modern digital EW suite. You may have a military background, having operated EW equipment in the field, or have worked in the design, development or testing of similar products.
The Project Design Authority (PDA) is the “technical partner” of the Project Manager in order to validate all technical choices, organize technical peer reviews, alert on any technical risks in the project and drive corrective actions. The PDA serves as the main interface towards the customer to clarify/negotiate technical scope in order to reduce technical risks and costs.

Responsibilities

As a Project Design Authority within Thales, you will:

  • Act as the customer’s technical representation within the project delivery, owning the specification of requirements on their behalf and ensuring that the delivered system meets the customers statement of needs
  • Act as the principle point of escalation for safety and security for the project, liaising with domain design authorities, cyber authorities and safety authorities to ensure the delivery of safe and secure systems to our customers
  • Act as a senior mentor to engineers, guiding their work and ensuring the quality of engineering products
  • Own the engineering and technical governance processes within the project, holding the delivery team to account and ensuring adherence with legislative and contractual obligations
  • Work with systems architects to define and recommend candidate architectures for the corresponding level (solution or solution element) to satisfy stakeholder expectations according to the standards and re-use policies, the technology roadmap and the business strategy
  • Assist in the solution development cycle and in defining the co-engineering approach
  • Manage, all along the project life cycle, the assignment of the corresponding level requirements, the management of the performance evaluation and the critical parameters, the definition of the interfaces, the technical negotiation between the different stakeholders (internal or external)
