Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The postholder will be an Electronic Engineer within the Next Generation Neural Interfaces (NGNI) Lab and will support research in the area of precision neurotechnologies. This post is part of an Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA)-funded project, subject to contract negotiations.
The postholder will join a highly dedicated team responsible for the delivery of a novel electronic device to modulate a biohybrid neural interface. The post holder will be a key contributor to the development of an electronic system consisting of (but not limited to) an optoelectronic probe, driver circuits, embedded system, power management, and PC interface with the relevant firmware and software for real-time data streaming, control, processing and visualization. The post holder will also be responsible for encapsulation and implantable packaging of the system for chronic in-vivo application. The post holder will also support use of the system in experimental neuroscience and iterate designs based on end-user feedback.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

  • Design, construct, and test electronic hardware and associated IoT infrastructure to support the development of scalable neuromodulation systems that utilise temporal interference stimulation.
  • Provide specialist advice on electronic system development, best practices.
  • Oversee the deployment of electronic hardware in trials and production environments.
  • Provide ongoing technical support, updates, and maintenance of deployed systems.
  • Manage version control systems to ensure traceability, reliability, and quality control.
  • Work in collaboration with other engineers, researchers, and developers within the research team and external stakeholders to enhance existing electronics and create new solutions across current and future device platforms.
