POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Electronic Engineering Technician to support the development, installation, testing, and maintenance of our cutting-edge solar-powered CCTV and security systems. This role is ideal for someone passionate about electronics, connectivity, and the future of sustainable, off-grid security solutions.
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
The role is offered - 40 hours, paid at $85,000 p.a

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with electronic security systems, electronic device/hardware design and development
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software faults.
  • Solid understanding of IP networking, data SIMs, and wireless communication protocols.
  • Excellent customer service, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Current full driver’s licence preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design, development, and configuration of integrated solar-powered CCTV systems using 4G/5G cellular networks for real-time monitoring and remote access.
  • Install and maintain cloud-based video storage platforms, ensuring secure and reliable data archiving and retrieval.
  • Set up and test mobile app connectivity for system control, live view, motion alerts, and user permissions.
  • Perform system diagnostics, fault analysis, and repairs on electronic hardware and network components.
  • Integrate sensors, wireless access points, and mobile data SIMs into a unified security solution.
  • Liaise with customers to evaluate their site-specific security needs and propose tailored system configurations.
  • Maintain documentation for each installation, including wiring diagrams, system specs, and testing logs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and IT specialists to refine system performance, software updates, and firmware integration.
  • Ensure installations comply with electrical safety regulations, privacy standards, and Unicom’s service protocols.
  • Provide training and technical support to end-users on using the app and managing cloud-based systems.
