JOB DESCRIPTION: ELECTRONIC R&D TECHNICIAN

OmniOn Power is seeking an entry-level, electronic technician to perform product electrical and thermal testing of electronic power supplies and dc/dc converters during New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change (EC) processes. The technician’s role consists of executing a comprehensive list of electrical and thermal tests and documenting the results.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s degree (2 year) in Electronics
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, and data logging instruments
Responsibilities
  • Interpret technical specifications, electrical schematics, and block diagrams
  • Modify prototype units by soldering surface mount and through-hole components
  • Crimp power and signal pins used on specific connectors and wire harnesses
  • Select appropriate test equipment and fixtures to perform required tests per electrical and safety engineering test plans
  • Attach thermocouples to critical components within the unit under test (UUT) prior to thermal testing. Re-assembly UUT as necessary prior to test setup
  • Connect the UUT to input / output cabling and fixturing prior to testing
  • Setup UUT in thermal chambers with various cooling mechanisms (fan, conduction, liquid)
  • Utilize automatic test equipment (ATE) to perform thermal and electrical tests
  • Assist engineering teams to interpret and duplicate non-compliances
  • Maintain lab equipment and calibration standards per ISO-17025 requirements
  • Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements such as LOTO
  • Coordinate engineering requests and assure timely and accurate completion of all action items
