Job Description You'll validate cutting-edge mixed-signal chips that make hard disk drives work—literally in the path where data gets written and read. Work on next-gen Preamp technology, solve real hardware challenges, and learn from both junior and senior engineers who'll help you grow. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Characterize next-gen Preamp chips using high-frequency RF test gear (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers) Automate testing workflows – write/modify TCL scripts to speed up validation cycles Debug signal integrity issues on prototype boards; run failure analysis and publish findings Partner with chip designers and vendors – test theories, verify fixes, optimize HDD performance Build test plans from scratch – design experiments, collect data, document what works (and what doesn't) First 90 days: Ramp on Preamp architecture → Support component testing → Ship your first automated test scripts This role is part of WD's early career development program. WD's early career development program is ideal for individuals at the early stages of their professional career. Participants receive foundational training through structured onboarding, mentorship, and a curated development curriculum. The responsibilities of this role are typically aligned with candidates who have approximately 0–2+ years of relevant professional experience, though candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply. Qualifications Required: Currently pursuing or recently completed a MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
