Description
Build embedded firmware for AoFrio’s IoT solutions and help deliver reliable technology into the field. Welcome to our World of Cold! At AoFrio, we are global leaders in providing IoT solutions to the food and beverage industry. Our innovative technology and dedicated team have positioned us at the forefront of our market. The role You’ll work in our engineering team to design, develop and maintain embedded firmware solutions for AoFrio’s IoT products, contributing to both new development and the ongoing improvement of existing systems. This includes developing embedded C and C++ software for RTOS‑based platforms, contributing to firmware architecture, and maintaining technical documentation, work procedures and design artefacts. With several roles available this opportunity suits engineers operating from intermediate through to senior level. At an intermediate level, you’ll contribute to design discussions, write clean and testable code, and improve existing codebases through refactoring and continuous improvement. At senior level, you’ll define firmware architecture and lead solution design end‑to‑end, identify technical risks and contribute to delivery planning, provide technical leadership, lead code reviews and technical discussions, and mentor other engineers. You will need: * Experience developing embedded firmware, with strong capability in C/C++ (Python exposure valued for tooling and test automation) * Experience with real‑time operating systems (RTOS), ideally including Zephyr or similar platforms used across IoT products * A solid understanding of embedded systems architecture and the constraints that influence design decisions * Confidence working in a GIT‑based source control environment and using issue tracking tools such as JIRA * A strong focus on quality, including applying best‑practice development principles and writing clean, unit‑testable and maintainable code * Ability to contribute to, and maintain, design documentation, technical documents and work procedures * Practical debugging skills using engineering tools such as debuggers, logic analysers and oscilloscopes * Ability to clearly explain technical trade‑offs, risks and design decisions to a range of stakeholders * Exposure to cross‑discipline collaboration, working closely with hardware engineers to shape firmware solutions * For senior engineers: experience identifying technical risks, contributing to delivery planning, defining or enforcing coding standards, leading code reviews, and supporting and mentoring other engineers Why AoFrio? We’re proud leaders in hardware‑enabled Software as a Service (SaaS) for commercial refrigeration.
