Description

Electronics Engineer
Location: Hybrid - Clearwater, FL (on-site for hardware work, remote for design tasks)
Salary: $117,576.00 - $136,288.00 (depending on experience)

JOB SUMMARY:

Picture a role where you own the embedded code that brings cutting-edge hardware to life. You will architect, write, and maintain production-grade firmware—primarily for resource-constrained microcontrollers, with occasional work on microprocessor-based boards. If you enjoy clean code, thoughtful reviews, and seeing products move smoothly from concept through production, you will thrive here. This hybrid role lets you work from home for firmware and other non-hardware tasks, coming into the office when hands-on work is required. You may also create light desktop GUIs or emulators that support debugging and production testing, though raw microcontroller firmware remains the core focus.

ABOUT US:

MicroType Engineering is a growing contract design and manufacturing firm that delivers complete embedded system solutions. We serve military, aerospace, and high-end industrial clients, pairing an agile design house and manufacturing line that are both certified to AS9100 and ISO9001. Your contributions will have direct impact and clear visibility as we expand.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 5+ years professional firmware development on resource-constrained MCUs
  • Strong C/C++ proficiency plus Git-based workflows
  • Familiarity with RTOS or structured bare-metal scheduling
  • Competence with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers
  • Excellent debugging, documentation, and communication capabilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exposure to hardware design or PCB layout
  • Experience within AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems
  • Static analysis tools and CI/CD pipelines
  • Embedded Linux or Python scripting
  • Experience building simple desktop GUIs or scripting tools (e.g., Python, C#, Qt)
  • Hands-on soldering and rework skills
