Description
About the role Reporting to the Electronics Support Team Lead, this role is part of the Electronics and Embedded Systems function, supporting the delivery of fully operational and qualified modular devices that enable advanced RF-based sensors and effectors. These modules are reused across man-portable, vehicle-mounted and fixed-site configurations, and require rigorous verification, validation and performance characterisation across complex wideband RF circuitry, high-speed digital interfaces and high-power RF output stages. The organisation designs and builds the complete signal chain from signal generation through to the antenna. This role is responsible for the verification, validation, reliability and manufacturing readiness of electronic subsystems and systems. It combines hands-on hardware engineering with structured validation planning, production support and legacy product sustainment to ensure robust performance across the product lifecycle. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical depth, structured validation capability and a practical approach to supporting both development and production environments. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Developing and executing verification and validation plans for electronic subsystem assemblies and system-level hardware Performing electronics verification activities, performance characterisation and hardware design validation at both modular and system level Supporting legacy products through fault finding, root cause analysis and implementation of reliability improvements Designing hardware with consideration for manufacturing, EMC and long-term reliability Creating manufacturing test specifications and supporting production setup and debugging Building, prototyping and testing new and existing products Liaising with suppliers to support procurement activities and enforce quality control procedures Applying sound industry practices for documentation and quality control Maintaining and organising hardware laboratory equipment Ensuring engineering teams have reliable, fully operational equipment to support development activities Effectively managing workload and priorities to meet key business objectives Qualifications, Experience and Skills BS degree in Electronics Engineering, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience Minimum of 2 years experience of professional experience in hardware design, test and production support Practical experience using benchtop test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators Schematic and PCB design using Altium Experience with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, etc) Hardware design principles for battery powered device and or embedded devices and applications Theoretical and practical understanding of mixed analog and digital system layout techniques Desirable experiences and skills Programming experience (Python preferable) Electronics Simulation skills (Spice, FEA, etc) Practical hands-on experience soldering and rework of fine pitch components including 0603 components or below Practical experience using spectrum analysers Design for receiver sensitivity principles such as cascaded noise figure, dynamic range, noise floor degradation, etc RF filter specification and selection. Design experience is desirable Working knowledge of Antennas Analog hardware design theory and experience. Eg: Specifying filters, working with low signal strength and achieving stable measurements in a mixed analog and digital design Theoretical and practical understanding of PCB layout techniques for high-speed digital and RF circuitry Familiarity of applicable global and local radio standards for intentional or unintentional radiators Familiarity with test equipment for validation of high-speed digital and RF interfaces Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed. #597
