Description

Berkeley Lab is hiring an Electronics Engineering Technologist to support advanced electronic systems, including the Advanced Light Source. Responsibilities include testing, evaluating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex electronic and electro-mechanical equipment using technical skills, scientific principles, and mathematics. This role is a “hands-on” engineering position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, related military training, trade school and or FCC General Radio Operators License, Certified Electronics Technician, Society of Broadcast Engineering - Certified Broadcast Radio or TV Engineer licenses or certifications.
  • Computer-Aided electronics drafting and design-documentation skills.
  • General personal computer application skills with spreadsheets, databases, word processors and graphics

Responsibilities
  • Interpret schematics, diagrams, parts lists, manuals, and assembly instructions.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems to the component level, applying technical expertise and judgment.
  • Perform diagnostics at system, board, and component levels; plan tests, select equipment, and analyze results for compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration using both standard and specialized methods to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, machine tools, test equipment, and complex electronic systems.
  • Assist in designing electronic systems and recommend modifications to existing designs.
  • Create drawings to communicate design changes and modifications.
