Description
Responsibilities will include new product development, maintaining third party certifications, compliance with standards, supporting the resolution of production, product quality issues and addressing customer application issues. The Hardware Specialist will spearhead hardware engineering projects from the initial concept through the production launch, work with contract manufacturers, advise and assist on production test. The individual will have design leadership responsibility for Electronic Trip Unit product families and interfaces with product line marketing and plant manufacturing teams, quality personnel, and customers. Lead the hardware design and development of Circuit Breaker Electronics Products. Work with marketing to develop specifications for product from customer requirements. Design and development of complex analog and digital circuits. Designing products to meet EMI/EMC requirements. Master the technology and methods of circuit breaker electronics design, testing and applications along with the applicable governing regulatory standards (UL, CSA, IEC, NEMA, etc.). Work with and provide direction and mentoring team members. Handle multiple projects and priorities, with the ability to switch focus as priorities change. Coordinate activities with other functional areas, suppliers, contractors and consultants. Lead the support to production issues and field issues and work closely with manufacturing teams and field service teams to provide assistance in a timely manner. Engage with the engineering organization to identify and implement improvements in product development processes, engineering tools & methods. Provides domain expertise to product support personnel to solve field issues. Performs and contributes to technical research and investigations. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 7 years of experience in new product development Minimum of 3 years of experience architecting, designing or developing embedded electronic products Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Electronics design, both analog and digital circuit design Hardware bring-up, debugging, signal characterization and manufacturing support Extensive experience with Altium or other schematic capture and layout tools Experience investigating, resolving complex system issues Strong analytical skills covering multiple areas of engineering (electrical design, mechanical design, test, simulation, industrialization) Ability to interact with business, technology leaders, customer & suppliers Working with cross-functional, global development teams Ability to manage design controls, develop and define requirements, & testing protocols Knowledge EMI/EMC standards, CE requirements
