Job Description As a Hardware Electronics Verification Engineer, you will join the Birmingham team to support our activities within the aerospace and defence sector. Working as a consultant for ALTEN, you will play a key role in the verification and validation of safety critical electronic hardware, supporting complex control and data systems used in high-integrity aerospace and industrial applications. This role offers exposure to advanced electronics, rigorous standards, and full lifecycle development in a regulated environment. Location: Birmingham On Site: Hybrid Clearance: Full right to work in the UK Experience Level: 8+ Years Key Responsibilities Verify and validate electronic hardware designs, including analogue and digital circuits, power supplies, and processing elements. Develop and execute verification strategies, test plans, and test procedures aligned with aerospace and defence standards. Perform hardware testing, including functional, environmental, and high-voltage testing where required. Support system-level integration, verifying interfaces between power electronics, control systems, electrical machines, and networks. Produce and review technical documentation, including verification reports, architecture documentation, and compliance evidence. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including PCB designers, thermal engineers, systems engineers, and suppliers to ensure robust verification coverage. Qualifications Required Skills Strong experience in hardware electronics verification within safety critical environments. Solid understanding of analogue and digital electronics, power electronics, and embedded hardware. Experience working across the full electronics lifecycle, from requirements analysis through verification and certification. Knowledge of DO-254 and DO-160 (E–G) standards and their application within regulated programmes. Ability to analyse top-down and bottom-up requirements and work across different TRLs. Required Qualifications A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience. 8+ years’ experience in electronics hardware design, verification, or validation, ideally within aerospace, defence, or industrial power systems. Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience reviewing and approving engineering documentation. Desirable Skills Experience with MATLAB, LTSpice, and PCB design tools such as Cadence or Altium. Exposure to thermal simulation or analysis tools such as ANSYS. Familiarity with supplier engagement, component selection, and verification of externally developed hardware. Additional Information Why join us?
