Description Position Summary The Electronics Manufacturing Technician – PCBA Repair & Test is a hands-on technical role responsible for diagnosing and repairing PCBA assemblies during production, maintaining ICT and test fixtures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures high-quality manufacturing output, improves yield, and reduces recurring assembly failures. The position is embedded in the production floor and works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams. Responsibilities Primary: · Troubleshoot and repair PCBA assemblies at the component and board level during production. · Perform root cause analysis on recurring failures and implement corrective actions. · Read and follow technical drawings and electrical schematics. · Interpret test results from ICT and production test equipment. · Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments, including but not limited to: o Soldering iron / soldering station o Multimeter o Oscilloscope o Power supply / DC source o Calipers, and other precision measuring devices · Document repairs, test results, and failure trends accurately. · Define and report process or quality problems as necessary Secondary / Growth: · Assist in continuous improvement efforts for SMT, wave solder, and manual solder processes. · Support updates to test procedures and fixture modifications. · Provide ad hoc guidance to production technicians on electronics best practices. Skills & Experience Required · Hands-on PCBA repair experience in a manufacturing environment. · Experience with ICT and production test equipment. · Familiarity with SMT, wave solder, and manual solder processes. · Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude · Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and wiring diagrams. · Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset. · Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. Preferred Skills / Certifications: · J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or similar certification. · Preventive maintenance of test equipment. · Knowledge of failure analysis techniques and basic continuous improvement methodologies. Performance Metrics / KPIs · Repair turnaround time – speed of diagnosing and repairing assemblies. · Yield improvement contributions – reduction of recurring failures. · Documentation accuracy – completeness and clarity of repair/failure records. · Collaboration & support – effectiveness in working with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams. Career Growth Path · Ownership of ICT/test fixtures and maintenance programs. · Expansion into manufacturing process improvement and optimization initiatives. · Potential progression to Manufacturing Test Engineer or Process Improvement Specialist as skills and responsibilities grow.
