ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for an R&D technician, with a predominant focus on electronics assembly and testing, who will work alongside the R&D team to build, test and assemble prototype drivetrains and vehicles.
Ideal experience includes some of the following: mechanical and PCB assembly, basic soldering and crimping, basic PCB circuit and component testing/ debugging with a multi-meter/ oscilloscope, testing mechanical and electronic systems, designing test procedures, experience working with electric motors, rotating machines, drones or other aircraft.
Your work will encompass a wide range of projects, from prototype to production, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will collaborate closely with R&D engineers from various disciplines to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our UAVs.
WHAT YOU’LL BEING DOING:
· Mechanical assembly: Assembly of motors, test equipment and jigs and fixings for the manufacturing of various components.
· Mechanical manufacturing: Using hand tools and ideally manual machining equipment (mill, lathe etc.) to produce parts for test equipment and prototype drivetrains and aircraft. CNC experience also welcome but not essential.
· PCB Assembly and Rework: Populating bare printed circuit boards with components by hand and reworking existing PCB assemblies where necessary, with a good eye for detail.
· PCB Testing: Performing basic functionality checks of electronic components and PCB’s with a multi-meter and an oscilloscope where necessary.
· Testing: Running and maintaining test stands for measuring drivetrain performance, quality control checking of sub-contracted and internally manufactured parts, designing and maintaining test procedure documentation and method for safe, effective testing.
· Prototyping: Participate in the development and testing of prototypes, focusing on achieving high levels of reliability, efficiency, and performance in rotating machine applications.
· Data Sharing and Documentation: Maintain clear and organized documentation of test conditions, test results, and technical specifications. Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional teams, ensuring data sharing and collaboration.
