JOB SUMMARY:

The Electronics Engineering Technician will plan, perform, and manage new lighting projects in alignment with development schedules and customer requirements. This position involves close coordination with project teams to ensure that designs meet performance standards and transition smoothly into manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, perform, and manage the design, development, and transition of new lighting programs into manufacturing, ensuring all lamp components meet multi-market requirements.
  • Serve as a technical liaison across assigned projects, collaborating with launch teams, engineers, and designers.
  • Develop and maintain DFMEAs, DVPs, and micro-schedules based on established procedures.
  • Ensure team milestones align with customer timelines and internal development targets.
  • Review and approve product drawings to ensure clarity, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements (including GD&T and SPC).
  • Oversee change management activities, ensuring customer and internal documentation is up to date and accurately distributed.
  • Lead or participate in design reviews and team meetings, maintaining documentation control for all deliverables.
  • Manage CAD model release and drawing submissions to ensure timely and accurate delivery to customers.
  • Support the Engineering Analysis process to ensure all design aspects meet legal, customer, and internal requirements.
  • Oversee test validation processes and ensure changes resulting from test failures are implemented.
  • Engage in value analysis/value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities using standardized parts.
  • Communicate effectively with customers on all assigned projects and support cross-functional coordination.

Requirements:

  • Education: BA/BS in Engineering or Associates in rekated field
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of engineering or electronics experience within the automotive industry. Experience with lighting systems or plastic part design is highly preferred.
  • Technical Competencies:
  • Knowledge of plastic injection molded components and related tooling.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Experience in using standard business and CAD software tools (e.g., MS Office).
  • Proficiency in technical writing, documentation, and communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across various levels of authority.

Hands-On Skills:

  • Basic:
  • Provide basic LDM (Low Dropout Mode) setup.
  • Remove and replace 0805 or 0603 resistors.
  • Use a DMM (Digital Multimeter) to measure voltage drop or current through a resistor.
  • Intermediate:
  • Solder 0402 resistors to PCBs.
  • Use an oscilloscope to measure amplitude and waveform shape.
  • Use a waveform generator to set up a 2V sine wave.
  • Advanced:
  • Remove integrated circuits from PCBs using hot-air rework.
  • Use an oscilloscope to capture inrush current from loads.
  • Measure waveform rise time, displaying input voltage and current simultaneously.

Harness and Connector Experience:

  • Create DB9 to DB25 harnesses with appropriate breakout and labeling.
  • Use solder cup and pin crimp connectors (male/female) as per drawings.
  • Read and follow harness diagrams to build, modify, or request production parts as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
