Description Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction. Elementary English Teacher Job Description Essential Functions and Objectives Teach appropriate grade level standards based curriculum in English Language Arts development and personal development, following school/district approved curriculum. Use a backward design approach to embed 21st Century Skills throughout units of study, providing multiple opportunities for students to prepare to thrive in a global society with learning that is engaging, sustainable and applicable to everyday life. Prepare, administer, assign and grade balanced assessments and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using school software. Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement and successful classroom management through Positive Behavior support and Restorative Practices. Present subject matter to students by instructing individually and in groups using various active teaching methods (e.g., lectures, small group instruction, technology, discussions), adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style Provide additional English interventions and support to identified tier 2 and 3 students, utilizing Science of Reading diagnostic strands. Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students. Monitors, supervises, coordinates and enforces rules of conduct and behavior of assigned students, and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy. Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, and social development, Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. Requirements Qualifications Must possess a current Colorado Teacher License with endorsement in Elementary Education and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education or HOUSSE qualified in elementary education, OR qualify for Alternative License and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education.
