Description
Description Job Type Part-Time (24–30 hours per week) Description Gestalt Community Schools (GCS) is a network of K–12 college-preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. GCS integrates education and community development to achieve strong academic outcomes for all scholars. We believe that the most effective way to support student achievement is through a true “gestalt”—an integration of education and community. The Elementary Intervention Specialist provides targeted academic and behavioral interventions for students performing below grade level in literacy and/or mathematics. This role supports students through small-group and one-on-one instruction, data-informed intervention planning, and collaborative work with teachers, administrators, and families. The goal is to ensure all students meet or exceed grade-level expectations and develop the skills needed for long-term academic success. Key Responsibilities Instruction and Student Support Deliver high-quality, research-based interventions in reading and/or math aligned with Tennessee state standards and GCS curriculum. Provide small-group and individualized instruction to address academic and behavioral needs. Use data from screening tools and formative assessments (e.g., i-Ready, DIBELS, MAP, AIMSweb) to identify students for intervention and monitor progress. Adapt and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including those with IEPs or 504 plans. Support students in developing foundational skills, social-emotional growth, and self-regulation strategies. Collaborate with general education teachers to align interventions with core classroom instruction. Assessment and Data Analysis Administer diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments regularly. Analyze assessment data to guide instructional decisions and track student growth. Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and intervention plans. Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) or Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings to review progress and adjust supports as needed. Collaboration and Communication Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, special educators, and school leadership. Communicate student progress and strategies for continued support with parents and caregivers. Engage in professional learning and development related to intervention, assessment, and evidence-based instructional practices. Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes high expectations and growth for all students. Requirements Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Certification: Current Tennessee teaching license in Elementary Education, Reading Specialist, or Mathematics (preferred). Experience: Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of reading and/or math intervention strategies, progress monitoring tools, and data-driven instruction. Skills and Attributes: Strong instructional, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with technology integration and online learning platforms. Ability to work effectively in an inclusion and co-teaching environment. Commitment to the belief that all students can learn at high academic levels. Team-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about supporting diverse learners.
