Position: Full time/Exempt RESPONSIBILITIES Duties of this position include but are not limited to: The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of personnel within this position. Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all learners and staff for academic performance and behavior. Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, discipline systems, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all State and District laws, policies & procedures and regulations. Establish master schedules for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for learners consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional goals. Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluate lesson plans and observe classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with effective learning and child growth and development. Encourage use of technology in the classroom. Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school. Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages learners to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and learners. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with learners, parents and school personnel. Serve as a role model for learners, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession. Encourage all teachers to do the same. Notify immediately the CEO, and appropriate personnel and agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or learners appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Keep the CEO advised of employees not meeting employment standards. Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school. Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school. Establish and maintain an effective inventory system for all school supplies, materials and equipment. Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities. Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of learners, employees and visitors. Follow established guidelines regarding drills for emergencies and disasters. Maintain a master schedule to be posted for all teachers. Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of learners in non-classroom areas (including before and after school). Maintain visibility with learners, teachers, and parents. Communicate regularly with parents so as to create a cooperative relationship for learner success. Use effective presentation skills when addressing learners, staff, parents, and the community including appropriate vocabulary and examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate speech. Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as required. Maintain accurate attendance records. Communicate with the CEO regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the school. Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records. Ensure that learner records are complete and current following District and State guidelines. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines. Organize and supervise procedures for identifying and addressing special needs of learners including health-related concerns, and physical and emotional needs. Attend required committee meetings and extra school sponsored functions and events, held during the school day and evenings/weekends. Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the CEO. Ensure learner grade and behavior reports are issued to parents as required. Enforce uniform policy and appearance policy for learners and employees following established guidelines. Coordinate with families, teachers, administration, support staff and community agencies to address the varied needs of learners. Use data to develop strategies to positively impact learners. Maintain professional growth through school-based and other professional development programs. REPORTS TO CEO Requirements All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process by the Clearinghouse. Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or related discipline from an accredited educational institution. Certification in Educational Leadership and/or School Principal. Minimum of 2 years school administrative experience. Minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience.
