REPORTS TO: TEC Academy Program DirectorWORK YEAR: 185 daysTHE ROLE: The Elementary Program Coordinator/Lead Teacher of TEC Academy - Lower Campus is an experienced, skilled, dynamic educator responsible for providing direct instruction and overseeing the daily operation of the elementary campus of TEC Academy. This position will provide the candidate the opportunity to serve on the leadership team of TEC Academy, an elementary behavioral program, supporting students in grades K-2 whose special education placement requires a substantially separate setting. The program will serve young students whose emotional and behavioral challenges are impacting their ability to access instruction in a typical classroom setting, with an eye toward developing necessary skills to experience academic success.OUR ORGANIZATION: The Education Cooperative (TEC) is a public educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 19 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner.TEC Academy, one of three DESE approved public special education day schools within TEC, is designed for students with academic, emotional and/or behavioral challenges that necessitate a small, structured educational setting.

TEC Academy students may struggle with emotional dysregulation associated with mental health diagnosis or past/persistent trauma. Though TEC Academy currently serves approximately 30 students grades 7 through 12, beginning in 2024-2025, the school will begin an incremental expansion; the current campus (Phoenix)will serve grades 6-12 and a new lower campus will serve approximately 6 students in grades K-2 as TEC begins to build an elementary program.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES -Articulate a vision for and establish a new lower campus that serves students in grades K-2 in a personalized, highly supportive environment. -Lead the instructional, behavioral and therapeutic programmatic activities of the school, including but not limited to: TEAM meetings, IEP compliance, appropriate instruction and modifications, implementing behavioral plans, assessments and progress reports.-Develop and provide direct instruction appropriate to the needs of each student in alignment with MA Curriculum Frameworks. -Maintain assigned caseload and provide direct services to students on IEPs.-Utilize teaching methods, strategies, materials and adaptive technology to support the classroom instruction to accomplish the goals and objectives of students IEPs.-Plan and oversee scheduling and other structures to support student learning-Facilitate the daily communication between staff members in order to support the complex needs of every student.-Use data to flexibly and effectively respond to and support student needs-Promote open, sustained, responsive communication to forge a partnership with students families, guardians, and caregivers.

  • Maintain and document student data.-Complete all required IEP paperwork according to established timelines..-Evaluate and assess students skills and develop an IEP as an active participant on the TEAM.-Assist the Program Director in the intake of student referrals.-Work collaboratively with representatives from referring school districts, including out-of-district coordinators and Student Services Directors-Participate in staff and other professional development meetings, conferences and teacher training, such as Safety Care.-Collaborate with Massachusetts agencies such as the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Youth Services, and the Department of Mental Health.-Promote greater understanding of the school program and its curriculum to member school districts and the greater regional community, as well as prospective families during the referral process-Perform other duties as may be assigned.
