Essential Functions:

  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school staff and parents.
  • Work effectively with community organizations.
  • Flexible and can react productively to change and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Support the philosophy and vision of the American School of Kuwait.
  • Provide individual counseling and group guidance to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, career, and family concerns.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, concerning the needs and abilities of students.
  • Implement a comprehensive appraisal process by selecting and administering students’ appropriate ability, achievement, and interests.
  • Identify students with special needs and make appropriate recommendations and referrals.
  • Assist with enrollment and kindergarten round-up.
  • Assist in a continuous program of student orientation.
  • Assist with the activities of student organizations.
  • Attend and assist, when necessary, with school events such as musical programs, plays, athletics, student recognition ceremonies.
  • Keep updated of new teaching techniques and innovative.
  • Obtain advance approval of the Elementary school principal for all activities and expenditures.

Adherent to all health and safety policies and all other duties as assigned by the ES Principal, or other Administrative Staff.

Job Summary:
The Elementary School Counselor helps students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment through, coordinating comprehensive counseling program, the Elementary Counselor must work closely with the other staff and administration.
