YOUR ROLE AS A SCHOOL PORTER As a School Porter at Shu Ren International School, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning and maintenance of the school facilities. Your responsibilities will include various tasks related to cleanliness, support, organization, and general upkeep, contributing to a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment for our students, staff, and visitors. WHAT YOU WILL DO General: Daily Cleaning & Maintenance Sweep, mop, and spot-clean hallways, classrooms, and common areas as needed Keep the main entrance, lobby, and waiting areas tidy Clean and restock restrooms regularly, ensuring soap, toilet paper, and paper towels are available Check and empty trash bins throughout the day, replacing liners as needed Clean up spills promptly to maintain a safe environment Address any unexpected messes or maintenance needs (e.g., leaks, stains, or broken items) Support During and After School Assist with setting up and breaking down spaces for special events, meetings, or assemblies Support teachers by responding to quick maintenance or cleanup requests Handle deliveries, move items, and organize supplies when needed Communication & Safety: Communicate promptly with the Director of Plant Operations regarding any maintenance issues that require attention Maintain awareness of safety protocols, ensuring that exits and pathways are always clear Be visible and approachable to staff and students, providing a friendly and supportive presence Additional Duties: Perform light handyman tasks like tightening loose fixtures or replacing light bulbs Assist with (or perform) minor repairs Assist with monitoring and restocking supplies in the staff kitchen/pantry area BENEFITS Health, Dental, Vision, Disability and Life insurance plans Generous paid time off policies 401K retirement account with up to 4% matching Tuition discounts to children of employees Requirements US work authorization (Required) High School or GED Equivalent Must have a vehicle for traveling among the four campuses (miles reimbursed) Ability to communicate effectively via email and/ or in person Prior experience in custodial work, janitorial services, or a similar role is preferred Flexibility to work during non-school hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, if required. Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and carrying objects. Experience in a school or childcare setting is a plus
