Description

Sathya Sai School of Toronto-Canada is an independent, non-denominational elementary school registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education. The school was established in 2000 to provide a balance between academic excellence and character development. The school’s programs combine challenging academic work with inspiring school events, including local, national, and international service activities. The school is seeking a Supply Teacher for Primary/Junior grades for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will create a positive climate for learning the Ontario Ministry’s curriculum for JK to Grade 8.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • An Undergraduate Degree;
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree with qualifications to teach at the Primary/Junior level;
  • A member, in good standing, of the Ontario College of Teachers is a requirement;
  • A minimum of two years experience teaching at the Primary/Junior level;
  • A Character Education Certificate would be an asset;
  • A demonstrated passion for teaching and working with children;
  • A thorough understanding of current educational practices in the areas of curriculum planning and assessment;
  • Enthusiastic participation in the school’s programs;
  • A commitment toward continued professional growth and development;
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • Experience with Distance Learning and online platforms such as Google Meet would be an asset.
    The successful candidate must be a role model for students and exemplify positive values, namely being truthful, dutiful, peaceful, loving, and non-violent in their thinking, speaking, and actions.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing, developing, and implementing engaging lesson plans for students consistent with the Ministry of Education curriculum;
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students;
  • Incorporating a variety of visual aids, textbooks, creative projects, and technology to gain and enhance student involvement;
  • Evaluating each student’s learning and performance through physical and skill development, class work, assignments, and tests;
  • Providing additional instruction and support when necessary;
  • Fostering healthy relationships with students and faculty to create an enriched learning environment;
  • Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and faculty;
  • Completing required record-keeping such as student attendance, grades, and report cards.
  • Enforcing all safety measures with students, if required by COVID-19 policies.
