Job Overview The Teacher Action Based Learning will facilitate (ABL) Action Based Learning strategies in an ABL lab and the classroom. The goal is to maximize student success academically and behaviorally. This includes support in designing and planning lessons with teachers that incorporate movement both in the ABL lab and in the classroom, working directly with students in the ABL lab and evaluating/measuring the program. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with teachers/specialists/campus instructional leaders to create academic lessons for use in the ABL lab Train teachers at the campus level on how to incorporate movement in the classroom Train teachers on the proper use of the ABL lab equipment/materials Coordinate and collect data Target identified students with challenging behavioral/academic needs Work directly with targeted students in the ABL lab as an intervention Closely collaborate with Spec. Ed. and RTI for ABL lab interventions Schedule and work with small groups/whole classes in the ABL lab Evaluate student progress and behavior Champion meaningful relationships and meaningful work leading to increased student success Build capacity on campus for action based learning Meet with district level ABL facilitators on a District Professional Learning days and as needed ABL Lab set up and station organization Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology preferred Action Based Learning Training/Certification preferred, or willing to get Current CPR Certification Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment in Physical Education, or has received statement of eligibility Minimum of 3 years working in an educational setting Ability to communicate effectively (both written & verbal) & work cooperatively with community, administrators, teachers, and staff. Must be computer literate & ability to work effectively with data. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents Strong oral and written communication skills required Physical Requirements/Working Conditions The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
