ELEVATOR MAINTENACE COORDINATOR 7AM-3:30PM JOHN STROGER HOSPITAL MONDAY-FRIDAY JOB SUMMARY Under direction, the Elevator Maintenance Coordinator plans and oversees all elevator-related projects and coordinates activities of elevator repairmen and contracted companies. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and inspection of all vertical transportation equipment within CCH (Cook County Health) facilities. Typical Duties · Plans and supervises elevator-related projects, coordinating activities of elevator repairmen and contracted companies. · Determines appropriate work procedures and materials needed for elevator maintenance and repair. · Interprets and reviews prints and specifications for elevator systems. · Observes and audits elevator preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections, providing necessary reports. · Facilitates the AIC (Annual Inspection Certification) elevator program with the City of Chicago, including associated communication, reporting, and resolution of court violations. · Attends meetings with elevator contractors and hospital management/administrative staff regarding ongoing and future elevator work. · Resolves building tenant issues related to elevators and provides resolution reports. · Administers CCH elevator maintenance, repair, and inspection contracts. · Maintains orderly files of safety tests, licenses, inspections, certificates, repairs, and preventative maintenance records for at least 10 years. · Collaborates with capital planning and building and grounds management to forecast equipment upgrades, code updates, and modernization work. · Provides depositions and court appearances to represent CCH for elevator-related violations. · Ensures elevator contractors adhere to CCH contracts and current City, State, and National codes and requirements. · Verifies completed work, approves maintenance, repair, and inspection paperwork, and authorizes billable work. · Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS · Three (3) years experience in facilities management/Maintenance Coordination · State of Illinois elevator inspector license and QEI inspector's license · Completion of NEIEP apprenticeship program or equivalent. · Position requires moderate to heavy local travel for which the employee must possess a valid Driver’s license and insured vehicle or otherwise provide an acceptable and reliable means of transportation MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS · Familiarity with ANSI, ASME, OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), and ADA standards related to elevators. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES · Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups · knowledge of elevator and escalator construction, maintenance, repair, modernization, and inspection. · Knowledge of relevant safety protocols and regulations in healthcare environments. · Analytical ability to review elevator electrical and mechanical schematic drawings and submittals for design. · Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage work with other skilled trades. · Ability to plan, supervise, organize, and inspect the work of elevator contractors and their employees. · Proficiency in record-keeping, report preparation, and budget recommendations. · Excellent communication skills to interact with contractors, hospital staff, and regulatory bodies. Physical and Environmental Demands This position is functioning within a healthcare environment. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to all hospital and department specific safety requirements. This includes but is not limited to the following policies and procedures: complying with Personal Protective Equipment requirements, hand washing and sanitizing practices, complying with department specific engineering and work practice controls and any other work area safety precautions as specified by hospital wide policy and departmental procedures.
