JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced ELV Design Engineer to join our projects team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ professional experience designing and coordinating extra-low-voltage systems—including security, communications, and building automation—for building and infrastructure projects. You will produce complete design packages, ensure compliance with local and international standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver turnkey ELV solutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in ELV system design for building or infrastructure projects, preferably in the UAE/Gulf region.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, and BIM collaboration platforms (BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of ELV systems: CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, structured cabling (Cat6/6A/7), PA/VA, BMS interfaces, and fire alarm.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (ISO/IEC, NFPA, UAE TDRA, Civil Defense) and best practices for ELV installation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills, with proven ability to liaise across disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., BICSI RCDD, Certified Security Project Manager) are a plus.

Responsibilities
  • System Design & Documentation:
  • Develop detailed design drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts for ELV systems (CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, public address, structured cabling, BMS interfaces, fire alarm panels) using AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
  • Produce comprehensive technical specifications, datasheets, and submittal packages for all ELV equipment.
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, rack elevations, and cable routing schematics.
  • Standards & Compliance:
  • Ensure all designs comply with UAE authority requirements (e.g., TDRA, CIVIL DEFENSE), ISO/IEC standards, and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities for design approvals and address their comments.
  • Coordination & Collaboration:
  • Coordinate ELV designs with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines via Navisworks Manage or BIM 360 for clash detection and resolution.
  • Participate in regular design coordination meetings, presenting ELV layouts, identifying integration issues, and proposing solutions.
  • Technical Calculations & Selection:
  • Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and power budgeting for ELV systems.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate equipment (cameras, controllers, panels, cables) based on project requirements, budget, and performance criteria.
  • Project Support & Quality Control:
  • Review shop drawings and sub-contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with design intent and quality standards.
  • Support procurement and cost estimation by providing accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and material take-offs.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to verify installations against design drawings and resolve field issues.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Develop and maintain a library of ELV BIM families, templates, and standard details.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training on ELV design best practices and software tools.
