In this vital role, you will provide dignified care and preparation for decedents, ensuring every service and interment reflects the highest standards of respect and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Perform embalming for funeral services and/or interment in accordance with company standards. Dress, casket, and cosmetize decedents to ensure proper presentation for services. Maintain accurate documentation of all embalming procedures to ensure compliance with medical and legal requirements. Ensure the preparation room is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards at all times. Support multiple funeral homes within designated geographic boundaries, contributing to seamless operations across locations. Qualifications Educational, Licensure and Skill Requirements • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or job specific skills acquired through on-the-job training or apprenticeship program • Passing of both sections of the National Board Exam (NBE) as per state requirements. • A minimum of one year of similar or related experience • Valid Funeral Directors and/or Embalmers License in the location jurisdiction, where required. • Possess and maintain necessary licensure or certification to meet local, state, and federal legal requirements to perform the function of embalming. • Possess a valid Drivers’ License and meet the driving performance standards as determined by management. MVR’s may be reviewed annually for compliance, and any conviction or at-fault accidents should be immediately reported to management. • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels including management, associates, home office and families. • Crematory certification will be required. Essential Physical Responsibilities • Ability to tolerate exposure to hazardous substances subject to government requirements; occasional lifting, pushing and pulling, with assistance, of objects up to approximately 600 pounds; manual dexterity required for clerical tasks; occasional stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 30 pounds for short distances. • Ability to travel by standard methods of transportation.
Responsibilities
The Embalmer will perform embalming for funeral services and ensure proper presentation of decedents. They will also maintain documentation and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
