About the job


We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Embedded C++ Software Designer to join our team in Munich to support the development of safety-critical fire detection and building safety solutions within an international engineering environment.


Responsibilities



  • Design and develop complex embedded software applications using modern C++ in safety-relevant environments
  • Create and maintain robust software architectures and UML models that support scalable and maintainable product development
  • Define clear software structures enabling international development teams to work independently on their respective components
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of embedded systems for fire detection and building technology applications
  • Ensure software quality, reliability, and maintainability through unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and code reviews
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, architects, and development teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Support the implementation of software development best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Perform hardware-related debugging activities using tools such as on-chip debuggers and oscilloscopes
  • Develop and maintain communication interfaces utilizing protocols such as CAN-FD, HTTPS, and MQTT
  • Work within modern containerized development environments and contribute to CI/CD-oriented workflows
  • Actively support and mentor development teams, particularly during project ramp-up and implementation phases
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality embedded products while maintaining a pragmatic and hands-on engineering approach


Required Qualifications



  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • Several years of professional experience in embedded software development
  • Strong expertise in modern C++ programming for embedded systems
  • Excellent knowledge of software architecture and UML-based software design methodologies
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments
  • Solid understanding of software quality assurance practices including testing, code reviews, and coding standards
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), ideally Zephyr
  • Knowledge of Devicetree concepts and low-level hardware integration
  • Experience with hardware debugging and embedded troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within international teams
  • Professional English language skills
  • German language skills at B2 level or above are preferred


Nice-to-Have



  • Experience with safety-critical systems or regulated development environments
  • Knowledge of fire detection, building automation, industrial automation, or IoT systems
  • Experience working with CAN-FD, MQTT, HTTPS, or similar communication protocols
  • Understanding of IoT security principles and secure software development practices
  • Experience with Docker and containerized development workflows
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and modern software delivery pipelines
  • Previous experience in multinational and distributed engineering teams
  • Strong mentoring and technical leadership capabilities
  • Experience supporting software architecture definition and technical decision-making processes
  • Ability to work on-site in Munich several days per week
