Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an Embedded Cyber Software Developer to join a leading government contractor. The Embedded Cyber Software Developer will support cybersecurity initiatives focused on secure boot processes, firmware security, and hardware root of trust implementations within embedded systems.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE EMBEDDED CYBER SOFTWARE DEVELOPER INCLUDE:

  • 7+ years of experience in secure boot loader development, signing, and configuration (including UEFI Secure Boot)
  • Strong knowledge of firmware security, encryption, hashing algorithms, and hardware root of trust concepts
  • Experience with PolarFire FPGA firmware services or similar hardware security platforms
  • Familiarity with fuse configuration and hardware security features
  • Experience developing user space APIs related to encryption and hashing
  • Strong scripting and programming skills (e.g., C, C++, Python, Bash)
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity standards and best practices related to firmware and boot security
  • Experience working in safety-critical environments and familiarity with industry standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, or similar (highly desirable)
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain cybersecurity features that comply with safety-critical system requirements and certification processes
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Secret Clearance is required
Responsibilities
  • Develop, sign, and configure custom boot loaders, including Boeing-developed and open-source signed EFI boot loaders
  • Lead Secure Boot integration efforts, including training material creation, documentation, and vendor coordination
  • Perform recovery testing and verification of secure boot and firmware recovery mechanisms
  • Support PolarFire firmware services related to encryption and hashing algorithms
  • Develop and maintain user space APIs for PolarFire encryption and hash algorithms
  • Implement and validate hardware root of trust features, including fuse configuration and testing
  • Manage firmware update processes across the product lifecycle
  • Design and develop custom Secure Boot UEFI applications
  • Configure, test, and validate boot loaders for secure and reliable system startup
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, firmware, hardware, and software teams to integrate security features
