Description

Embedded Hardware Engineer-FPGA, ASIC, and Secure Systems Location: Raleigh, NC | Baltimore, MD area | Huntsville, AL Position Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

JOIN THE FUTURE OF EMBEDDED HARDWARE ENGINEERING

We’re seeking an Embedded Hardware Engineer with strong FPGA design expertise and a solid understanding of ASIC development and transition processes. This role centers on system-level hardware architecture and integration, with an emphasis on compact, high-performance platforms for demanding environments. While security is not the sole focus, you’ll contribute to systems that must meet modern embedded security requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of hands-on FPGA development experience (Xilinx, Intel, or similar)
  • Familiarity with ASIC design flow and tools (synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis)
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe, AXI) and digital hardware subsystems
  • Knowledge of secure embedded design principles (e.g., trusted configuration, partitioned systems)
  • Exposure to chiplet-based integration, SoC architectures, or heterogeneous multi-die designs
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills in both simulation and hardware test environments
  • Must have active DoD security clearance
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement FPGA-based systems using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
  • Develop scalable, modular system architectures using chiplet and high-bandwidth interconnect technologies (e.g., UCIe)
  • Support full FPGA development lifecycle: simulation, synthesis, timing closure, and hardware testing
  • Contribute to ASIC transition efforts: RTL optimization, design for manufacturability, and physical layout coordination
  • Integrate and support basic hardware-level security features (e.g., secure boot, isolation mechanisms)
  • Interface with cross-functional teams including firmware, software, and systems engineering
  • Collaborate with ASIC foundries and EDA vendors to support design handoff and fabrication
  • Participate in lab-based bring-up, debugging, and system validation activities
