Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Architect. This position is fully remote, Candidates must hold an active secret clearance. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ARCHITECT INCLUDE:

  • Proven expertise in safety partitioning and DO-178C or similar safety-critical software standards.
  • Deep understanding of multicore processor architectures and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with Linux and VxWorks in embedded or avionics environments.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze system-level drawings and architecture documents.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills for presenting trade study results.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance.
  • Prior experience supporting Air Force, DoD, or aerospace OEMs.
  • Familiarity with containerization in embedded systems.
  • Experience with flight control systems or avionics integration.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct a trade study to evaluate options for adding new functionality to an existing flight computer without introducing new hardware ("boxes").
  • Analyze system architecture, drawings, and existing software containers to identify feasible integration paths.
  • Provide recommendations to the U.S. Air Force on how to safely and efficiently add new functions to the flight computer.
  • Ensure compliance with safety partitioning standards, specifically from Level of Rigor 2 to Level of Rigor 4.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand current system setup and constraints.
  • Document findings and present multiple solution paths with pros/cons, risks, and implementation considerations.
