We are looking for a talented and passionate embedded software engineer to join our team. You will be designing and developing solutions for cloud storage systems. You will work with other engineers, researchers, and partners across Microsoft to create cutting-edge storage technologies that improve the performance, efficiency, and dependability of cloud computing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electronics engineering or in another related field.
  • Solid experience in software design, development, testing, and validation.
  • Experience in developing for Linux, preferably for embedded systems.
  • Proficient with software design for embedded systems using either C, C++ or Rust.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB PCIe etc.).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize tasks effectively.

Desired qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or in another related field
  • Knowledge of electronics design, real-time systems, and FPGA design.
  • Experience with STM32 and ARM processors running Linux as part of an FPGA system
  • Experience with hardware debugging tools and techniques.
  • Experience with software development cycle and requirement gathering.
  • Experience with version control and project management tools such as GIT, Azure DevOps, JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience in developing robotics, automation, or laboratory control systems
  • Knowledge of storage media systems and signal processing technologies for HDD and optical media.

Responsibilities:

As an embedded software engineer in our research and development team, you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for product prototype systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to align embedded software development with overall product goals.
  • Design and implement software modules to support various hardware interfaces, including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, PCIe, and other related protocols.
  • Perform system-level debugging and troubleshooting to identify and resolve hardware/software-related issues.
  • Ensure software quality, security, reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Debug and troubleshoot technical issues related to the software and hardware.
  • Document software design and implementation details.
  • Contribute to innovation, prototyping, and patenting.
  • Work on exciting and challenging projects that shape the future of cloud computing.
