About Zepheros
Zepheros Aerospace Inc. is a Canadian startup developing affordable manned eVTOL aircraft. Our mission is to build a new class of personal aerial mobility, safe, explainable, and accessible.
Our Zepheros PATH platform is the authoritative airspace server that powers drone/aircraft autonomy, integrating bounded on-drone guidance with global server-side safety, weather, and urban airspace gating.
The Role
We’re looking for a software engineer (student or early-career) to work directly with the founder on the development of Zepheros PATH. This role is highly flexible, you’ll be contracted out on specific days (at $200/day) to push forward concrete deliverables.
You’ll be given access to ChatGPT-5 Pro and Claude 4.1 as coding copilots to accelerate development.

What You’ll Work On

  • Building and testing the PATH server (Dockerized API stack).
  • Implementing real-time communication contracts between server and drones.
  • Developing web apps (Leaflet + PMTiles) for:
  • Global Dashboard (/) privacy-preserving fleet overview.
  • Operations Map (/map) real-time fleet visualization, hazards, compliance ribbons.
  • Simulator (/sim) deterministic stress scenarios.
  • Developer/Editor (/dev) policy editing, POI editor, schema browser.
  • Integrating external data
  • Writing unit tests and compliance validation tools.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Python, Go, or Rust for backend work.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Leaflet/Mapbox/Protomaps for web visualization.
  • Familiarity with APIs, JSON schemas, Docker, and GitHub.
  • Interest in autonomous systems, aerospace, or real-time distributed software.
  • Self-starter mindset: able to scope work with the founder and execute independently.

Compensation & Structure

  • $150+/day contract rate
  • Flexible, project-based scheduling (no fixed hours).
  • All intellectual property produced belongs to Zepheros Aerospace Inc.
  • Opportunity to continue as a long-term contractor or full-time role once funding is secured.
