Description

ABOUT A.U.G. SIGNALS LTD.

A.U.G. Signals Ltd. (AUG) is a Toronto-based technology company designing and developing intelligent systems for roadway safety, perimeter monitoring, and security applications. We specialize in radar-based systems and environmental monitoring systems that operate reliably in real-world environments – combining hardware, firmware and AI, delivering value to our customers across the globe.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a hands-on Embedded System Designer to join our team in the development of the next-generation of intelligent products. This role mainly involves embedded systems programming (on STM32 platform). You will work at the intersection of sensors signal processing, embedded firmware, and applied AI to build high-performance systems for real-time operation.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline
  • Experience in embedded firmware development (C/C++, Embedded C)
  • Experience with STM32 or similar embedded platforms and real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, TI-RTOS)
  • Experience in integrating new, off-the-shelf sensors into existing systems
  • Experience with various communication protocols and bus technologies (Ethernet, USB, I2C, I2S, LVDS, PCIe, etc.)
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design parameters and theory (rise-times, supply ripple, filtering techniques, etc.) including knowledge of hardware components and ICs (step up/down regulators, microcontrollers, ADCs, amplifiers, LNA, etc.)
  • Understanding of statistical methods, signal processing, and data validation
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G or G2)

DESIRED SOFT SKILLS:

  • Proven technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated forward thinking and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment with a wide variety of programmatic/technical challenges
Responsibilities
  • Develop, program, and optimize embedded systems (STM32 or similar) for sensors-integrated products
  • Implement and deploy proprietary ML models for classification, anomaly detection, pattern recognition, etc. to run on constrained embedded hardware
  • Interface with sensors to capture data, process signals, and extract meaningful features for AI processing
  • Conduct modeling and simulation to evaluate system behavior and performance under real-world conditions
  • Design and perform system-level validation, verification, and debugging in both lab and field settings
  • Analyze embedded outputs against ground truth using MATLAB or Python-based tools to improve detection accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, test plans and ML model training/evaluation summaries
  • Collaborate with hardware, data science, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration across subsystems
    About you
You want to work for a small company that dreams big and thinks out of the box. You are driven and think work is more than just a job. You enjoy being surrounded by creative and fun-loving people who are passionate about their work. You take initiatives, excited to learn new technologies and are reliable.
