HaloBraid is redefining haircare by building the world’s first intelligent braiding robot, to reduce hair braiding appointment times from hours to minutes. We’re searching for an Embedded Systems Engineer (Firmware / Software / Electronics) who wants to help bring this future to life. We’re well funded by top tier hardware and consumer investors, recently closing an oversubscribed round to fuel our next stage of growth. You’ll be on the forefront of invention, taking complex mechanisms from prototype to polished product, collaborating with industrial design, and shaping an entirely new category of robotics. What You’ll Do Design, develop, take ownership of the brains of our device, the embedded software that is crucial to our machine Work closely with the team to integrate hardware electronics, PCBs to bring to life a world first Debug and troubleshoot embedded systems, take a hands on approach to get things done Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests Contribute to requirements definition, technical documentation, and design reviews Support product certification and compliance activities where required (e.g. CE, EMC) Who You Are Proven experience developing embedded software in Python, C / C++ Well versed in common microcontrollers and development boards (e.g. Raspberry Pi, ARM Cortex-M, STM32, Jetson Nano, NXP, Microchip, Arduino) Track record of contributing to a launched embedded hardware product Practical experience with computer vision in embedded or edge environments, including camera integration and image processing (e.g., OpenCV, basic vision pipelines) Comfortable with CNN image classification (on-device or off-device); exposure to training, fine-tuning, or evaluating models is a plus but not required Experience in the use of wireless communication protocols Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work effectively in a small team Bonus If You Have… Exposure to hardware design, schematics, or PCB layout and manufacture. Experience in the use of ROS Familiarity with IoT or connected device workflows, and awareness of how embedded systems interface with cloud services (e.g., AWS) Knowledge of Bluetooth / 4G / 5G communication protocols Comfortable using CAD softwares and 3D Printing Why HaloBraid?
